If I could sumarize our Sunday morning bible study in one word it would be, relaxed. Most students are still a little sleepy at 9:15am, so we focus on building relationships and practicing how to have a daily devotional time. We start around 9:15 with donuts and coffee. This gives students a chance to get to know each other and catch up with friends that they may not have seen all week.
After about 15 minutes of that, we gather in our big room. Each week we take a passage of scripture from our Wednesday lesson and focus on that one passage. Students take about 5 minutes to pray, read the passage, and take some notes to discuss with the group. This gives students a chance to practice doing the things they would do in a daily quiet time.
After the students pray, read, and think, I ask them to share what they thought. This gives students a chance to take some ownership of their faith. It also gives students a chance to take a tiny step into leadership as they share their thoughts and lead the group into a discussion.
